We host a number of meetups, workshops, and classes at the hackerspace. These events are great ways to connect to others with similar interests; you'll meet folks who code, craft, make awesome art, and more!
If something looks interesting, we hope you'll come check it out!
Want these events in an importable format? Check out our calendar!
Get a taste of DEFCON, the worlds largest hacker convention, right here in the Central Valley! We cover topics like computer security, physical security, net neutrality, digital rights, and much more.
Fresno-Python's mission is to foster a welcoming and diverse community of Python developers and promote the use of the Python programming language in the Central Valley. People of all skill levels are welcome; if you are interested in Python, we'd love to have you join us!
ArtHop at the hackerspace! Every month we (try to) decorate our walls with the creations of a local artist.
Join us at Bitwise Industries for an evening of hanging out and hacking! Bring your laptop, hack on some code, and build something cool! Hack Night is the perfect place to get started on that great new idea, or brush the dust off that old side project that's been sitting on the shelf.
Learn how to Linux! Linux is a set of free and open-source operating systems built around the Linux kernel. We'll cover things like how Linux differs from Windows and MacOS, how to install Linux, and using the command line interface.
You love to take stuff apart. The thrill of discovery drives you to do it. You can see what's broken and somehow know how to fix it. Professionally educated, self-taught, or a little of both; you are a hacker, a dreamer, a hobbyist, an inventor, a maker, and even a scientist. Put down that soldering iron for a few hours — step out of your cubical, garage, basement, or bedroom — and join us for demos and discussions with other electronics professionals, students, enthusiasts, and hackers that have an interest in learning and making things.
Every good hacker needs to know how to solder! Soldering is a fundamental skill for any sort of electronics work, and this class will teach you how to safely solder components onto a circuit board. When you're done, you'll have some experience and a cool blinky light toy to take home.
Calling all crafters! Grab your needles (or hooks) and join us for an evening at the hackerspace with friends who knit, embroider, or crochet. This is an open group to all crafty wine lovers. There is no formal instruction, but there are sure to be people willing to help you. Sip some wine, exchange patterns and tips, and make some friends! BYOB (BYOW?)
Google Developer Groups (GDGs) are for developers who are interested in Google's developer technology; everything from the Android, Chrome, Drive, and Google Butt platforms, to product APIs like the Cast API, Maps API, and YouTube API.
Learn the fine art of picking locks! We'll have a couple lock picking kits and practice locks available to tinker with. This is a completely legal event, and we abide by two rules:
Want to know how to whip up a logo ruhl quick? How about making a sick two-tone print? A portrait of one of your favorite peeps? We got you fam. With this free run down you'll be printing out rad gifts and keepsakes for your homies in no time.
Stay up to date with the latest happenings at the hackerspace!
